Just give me all the gingham

I have gone crazy for gingham! Lane Bryant has been having quite a few gingham pieces show up in their store and none of them really screamed for me to take it home.  Low and behold, they come out with some online exclusive pieces that I absolutely fall in love with!  Now, I like to try my clothes on and I hate returning things so I’m not really an online shopper.  I held out on buying these pieces for a while but would still stalk lanebryant.com daily just to make sure they were still there.  Then the 40% off and spring sale came and sizes started disappearing.  I had to act fast and get the three pieces that I had been lusting after and I have not been disappointed.  I selected a size and kept my fingers crossed that everything would fit.  And it did!  I could have gone down a size on the dress, but once I added a belt…it was perfect.

I purchased my very first bikini!  It’s a high waisted one.  (I’m not that confident….yet!)  But I was surprisingly very emotional about it.  I always look at 2 piece suits and really love the way that they look, but have always been to scared to get one.  Well, I purchased the top as part of their online exclusive and the bottoms I got off the clearance rack at the outlet for $5.98!  That made the entire outfit less than $50. The shoes are Rebecca Minkoff from last year. (Gingham Flounce Bikini Tolt-In Bandeau Bra $41.02)

The next gingham piece is the Gingham shell with belt $26.69.  I absolutely love this top.  I tried it on in the store and when I walk out of the dressing room to show one of my favorite store managers…people wanted to know where that top was in the store.   Sorry, online only.  Kind of a bummer for them.  I paired it with a white skort also from Lane Bryant but many many years old.

The final piece from Lane Bryant is the Off the shoulder shirtdress ($40.04).  I have a beach trip coming up and I just pictured myself wearing this dress while walking on the beach.  It’s so pretty, flowy and summery.  I could not pass it up. I’m so excited to see if it makes me feel as good on the beach as it did in my imagination. This dress has a thin lining which is pretty soft and comfortable.  I also love the tie detail on the sleeves. The gold belt is from Lane Bryant and does not come with the dress. The sandals are from Guess last year.

The final piece is a gorgeous off the shoulder shirt that I bought from Saks off 5th.  It’s by a brand called BeachLunchLounge which I absolutely love!  This is my first piece from them, but I know that I am going to buy more because I have been eyeing some of it for a few months now. It was $34.99 and I just paired it with my denim boyfriend fit distressed capri’s from Torrid.

As you can see, the trend that I have fallen in love with this year is gingham and I continue my love for the off the shoulder trend that picked up steam last year. I believe I blogged about that for several pieces I purchased back then.

I hope you enjoy the looks!  Talk to you all soon.

National Handbag day?

I have never heard of this, but I hear that today is National handbag day.  Well, I love handbags so any reason to post about one works for me.  As I do on National Lipstick day, I am just going to talk about the bag that I have been carrying today.  I bought this purse a few years ago from a boutique near my house.  I absolutely love it.  It’s two bags in one and it is so convenient when I have a lot of things to carry around.  I found it the most convenient when flying because I can put so much stuff in it.  So, one purse is black and the other is yellow and they zip together to create one bag.  It’s wonderful.  I have been carrying this bag for the past week.  I forgot how much I enjoy it.  Unfortunately, I do not know the brand name for this purse but I will try to figure it out and will edit this post with the name if I find it.

Enjoy!

My Fall/Winter handbag

As the summer is winding down, I am preparing to put away my summer handbag and pull out my winter ones.  As I was going through some previous posts, I realized that I did a post on two summer bags, but none on my winter bags.  I was thinking of one bag in particular because it has been my favorite since I purchased it over a year ago.

My staple winter bag is the ZAC Zac Posen Daphne Barrel Satchel.  I fell in love with this purse the moment I laid eyes on it.  Now, I rarely purchase anything full price so at the time that I saw it, it was already on a pretty good discount.  I purchased mine at Saks Off Fifth for about 1/2 price.  I originally saw it in one of the stores I frequent in Georgia, but did not buy it because I wanted to walk away from it and see if I still wanted it a week or so later.  I walked away from it twice, but could not get it off my mind so decided to bite the bullet and get it.  Guess what?  It was sold out at my store!  So I chalked it up as a loss because of my slow response.  About a month or so later, I was on vacation in Florida and went outlet shopping there.  Low and behold…there was my bag in a Saks there.  I didn’t mess around.  I scooped it up then and there and purchased it.  I have not regret my decision.

Anyway, about the bag.  It is a very structured handbag, so it is not the easiest to get into.  I like that though since I rarely zip up my bags.  Because it is so structured and the opening so tight, it keeps everything safe from spilling out when I don’t close it all the way.  It also has my favorite feature on a handbag which is pockets on each side.  I love to be able to put my cell phone in these pockets for easy access.  It has a pocket on the front, which is convenient for throwing change in, but I don’t use this pocket as much as the sides.  I also love the gold hardware.  I am normally a silver hardware/accessory person, but the gold against the black really stands out and make the bag look luxurious.  It also has the gold hardware on the bottom to allow the bag to stand up, which is another favorite feature of mine.

As you can see in the picture, this year, I have done the latest trend which is wrapping one of my handles with a scare.  I love it. It gives it a little something different this year.  I always get compliments on this bag which is always a bonus to me.  Unfortunately, this purse is probably no longer available, but I wanted to share it anyway.  What is your favorite winter handbag?

Trends: Off the shoulder top

I’m really enjoying the trend of of the shoulder tops.  I know it is not necessarily new, but I have always shied away from it in the past because I have larger breasts.  In the last few years though, I have begun to broaden my horizons and not be afraid to try out the new trends.  I have discovered the strapless bra from Lane Bryant which has allowed me to wear many tops that I would have considered to not be an option for me.  So, here I am sharing a picture of two ways that I have worn the Chambray off the shoulder top from Lane Bryant.  Enjoy!

Outfit #1 – Chambray off the shoulder top (Lane Bryant) paired with Dark Sea Blue drapey skirt (Old Navy)

Outfit #2 – Chambray off the shoulder top (Lane Bryant) paired with Flowy Lace Shorts (Torrid)

Summer Revisited

As the leaves start to turn colors, I decided to do a final goodbye to the summer.  It was a beautiful one.  Summer has always been my favorite season.  There is just something about staring out at the summer skies with the smell of fresh cut grass. Or in my case, sitting in my car (away from the bugs) at night with the sunroof open and the seat leaned all the way back staring up at the stars.  Sigh!  Well goodbye summer.  I will see you in a few months. Attached is a picture of one of my favorite outfits of the summer.  The jumpsuit is from the Vera Bradley for Target collection, the denim vest is from Lane Bryant, the denim shoes are from Nine West, the studded wrap watch is from Francesca’s.

Until next time…..

3 days in outfits

This was fun to do last week, so I am doing it again.  Here are three outfits from last week.  All of the clothes are from Lane Bryant.  The yellow shoes are an old classic that I purchased from Boston Store in Wisconsin about three years ago.  The strappy sandals with the flowers on top are also a classic from a few years ago. I believe they are Aerosoles, but unfortunately I believe they are past their prime.  The sandals with the gold details were featured on my blog last year.  They are from Lane Bryant.  Hope you all enjoy!

A few outfits from last week

Here are a few outfits from last week. Everything is from Lane Bryant except the striped dress.  That was purchased from Saks off Fifth.  The black flat sandals are Nine West.  The wedge sandals are Reaction by Kenneth Cole.  The summer weather had me feeling very flirty, so dresses/skirts were worn three of the five work days.

Henri Bendel Sip & Shop with Everyday Runway (Parker Simmons)

Recently, I went to an event at Henri Bendel that was hosted by the blogger Everyday Runway.  I have been trying to get out more and socialize.  So after remembering last minute that I had RSVP’d to the event, I turned my car around and raced down to Lenox Mall.  I was completely unprepared for this event since I had completely forgotten about it!  I was not remotely dressed in anything that I wanted to be seen at a social event in!  I was somewhat horrified, but I sucked it up and showed my face anyway.  Parker Simmons of Everyday Runway was such a great hostess.  I enjoyed chatting with her about all of the Henri Bendel items.  We also chatted about some boutique favorites such as Trapp Candles which are my favorite. I browsed the store and purchased a cute mug that caught my eye almost immediately.  I love mugs, glasses and random water bottles.  Anyway, I stayed for about 45 minutes, then made my exit.

The next morning, I got a phone call that I had actually won the drawing for the purse that they were giving away.  I was so excited.  I never win anything really so it was a shock.  I almost did not even bother entering, but am glad I did.  I believe the purse is called the Whitney Crossbody Tote.  I love the color. It is going to be perfect with so many of my spring looks.

All in all, I had a wonderful time and look forward to getting out to more social events.

A few new fall essentials

Since it has been getting colder here in Georgia, I have been in need of a few more long sleeved shirts.  I purchased a shirt from Torrid that is a long sleeve v-neck with hearts all over it. I also purchased a long sleeved shirt that is a similar material to a thin sweatshirt from Lane Bryant.  This one has shiny snowflake-like designs all over it.  I raced around to 4 stores to find this one in my size as it went on clearance very quickly.  Ironically, I found a similar one as I was dashing around town at Dress Barn that was made of a thinner material and a darker gray color.  I already wore that one, so forgot to take a picture but I will put a link below if I can find one.

Of course, no month would be complete without a few beauty buys so I did get a few new lip colors at the Sephora VIB event.  I purchased another Matte creme lip crayon from Bite Beauty in the color Aubergine.  This was actually the color that I wanted when I purchased the color cognac which was mentioned in one of my previous posts, however the Sephora that I was at was out of that color at the time.  A Kat Von D lipstick also made its way into my shopping basket.  I got Studded Kiss lipstick rouge a levres in the color prayer.  This color is beautiful and since matte’s are my favorite formula for lipsticks, so I know I will love it. I also came across a new item from Josie Maran called the Coconut watercolor lip stain. I got the color Coral Oasis.  I really love it!  It has a lip stain on one side, and gloss on the other.  This is probably a color more suited for spring/summer but I think it’s beautiful and wore it most of the day yesterday.  I also purchased my favorite from Fresh which is the Sugar tinted lip treatment in the color rose.  I have been addicted to these for a couple of years.  They are so moisturizing, and I like to wear it not only during the day, but at night to keep my lips from getting chapped.

Finally, I have become somewhat addicted to perfume roller balls.  I have bought practically every scent by Marc Jacobs.  Roller balls seem to be perfect for me since I find that the sprays last forever and I will rarely finish them before getting tired of the scent.  I have a few favorites that I will wear forever and never get sick of such as Dior’s Ja’dore, but for the most part…roller balls are the way to go.

Well there you go!  A new post that helps me sort out my shopping obsession.  I will talk to you all soon!

Casual Friday

Lane Bryant recently had a massive clearance sale where there were quite a few items that were $6.99.  I didn’t find a ton of things, but I did get this sweater.  The color of this sweater is beautiful and I thought it would be a great color to wear on Halloween.  The cuffed jeans are a few years old from Lane Bryant and I purchased to booties from a local boutique.
