Every year around this time in Town Center mall, we shoppers are treated to kids doing their piano recitals. Yesterday, I actually sat down while eating a soft pretzel and listened to about four kids do their mini concert. This year was the first time I saw a sign for it. They called it to pianothon. It was nice to see and hear. It was the perfect opportunity to relax during the hectic shopping season. #holidaycheer

Holiday Cheer. Day 1
I remember my first Christmas in Georgia about 18 years ago. I had just started working for a temp agency after two months of interviewing for jobs with no luck. I finally received my first check and I was so excited. While riding in my car listening to Christmas music on the radio, I looked over to the car next to me. The lady on the passenger side in the car beside me and I made eye contact and were both singing Have a holly jolly Christmas. We laughed and started singing loudly while dancing in our seats. Welcome to the South! That’s probably the moment I realized that I had made the right move. (Still a northerner at heart though). I think her husband (atleast that is who I assume the driver was) might have thought we both had lost our mind because he was laughing at us. #holidaycheer
Life is hard
Life is a difficult thing to figure out sometimes. I have so many questions and fears. I never really pictured my life where it is right now. When I was younger, I thought I would have children, a husband, a career. I guess I pictured a perfect life. Man, did reality slap me in the face. I don’t have any of these things. Is it my fault? Where did I go wrong? I guess I just assumed that that it just naturally happens if you follow a certain path in life. Throwing my finger up to paths! I’m a little lost today. I’m sure I will feel better soon, but I get these downward spirals that just have me thinking about where I wanted my life to be….and where it is. Then I think about my mom, who had such a short life. Who am I to complain?! I’m alive. I have the opportunity to change my life if I want it bad enough right? Is that it? I don’t want it bad enough? So many jumbled thoughts going through my head. I get sad, then I get mad that I’m sad. I’m envious of people who got it all together.. But then again…envy is a sin. My head is going to explode. My heart might explode too.
New Year’s Resolutions 2015
What an interesting year this has been. This morning when I was collecting my thoughts on my goals for next year, I went back to read the ones for last year. I must say that I did better than I thought I would, especially where this blog is concerned. I worked hard to keep up with my goal of wanting to do one post a week. I also managed to read more for fun. Granted, this was mostly toward the end of the year after I was finished with school but I did it none the less. Well on to my goals for next year.
My goals for 2015 is to continue writing in this blog, work on getting healthy by drinking more water and exercising, and be happy. Yep, pretty much the same thing as last year. I was a total fail on the health goal last year, so I really want to put an extra effort towards this.
I hope that you all have a great year!
Shoes and beauty haul
I took a little break from my blog because I was completing my Capstone for school. Afterwards, I was exhausted from the late nights of writing a 20 page paper, but am so happy that it is done and final grades have posted, so I am officially done with classes. Woo Hooo!
However, on to more exciting things. I have purchases to share. Whenever the summer is winding down, I begin to look for closed toe shoes for the fall. As you all may know, summer is my favorite season and I love wearing sandals. Closed toe shoes are not my favorites to search for but I saw some leopard print beauties at Aldo’s recently and had to buy them. They are very cute and very comfortable. They have a lot of cushion in the bottom, and are really flexible. There were multiple colors, so I am contemplating purchasing another pair in a different color.
The sandals may be very recognizable. Lane Bryant had these in black and animal print all summer long, but I passed on buying them. The gold embellishments are actually plastic which I really didn’t love, but they went on clearance in the last few weeks, so I decided to go ahead and get the black pair. Lane Bryant only have wide shoes, so they are a little big for me, but I have been enjoying wearing them. They were a good, clearance buy.
I purchased my first Deborah Lippmann nail polish and I love it! It is called Boom Boom Pow. It’s a glitter polish, but it does not give a textured feel on the nails which I absolutely love. The Butter London polish in the picture with it is not a new purchase, but these two polished have been what I have been wearing on my nails for the entire month of August. They are beautiful together. The Butter London polish is called Tea with the queen. This is a beautiful pairing.
Mac released a new collection this week called, A Novel Romance. Now, I love romance books so this was a collection after my own little heart. I needed something from it just because they ad looks like a cover of a historical romance book. 😀 I only purchased one thing which is the lipstick, Lingering Kiss. It is definitely a fall shade for me. It’s a very deep wine color, and also a matte finish which is my favorite. I also purchased a regular line item, which is the lipstick, Cherish. I’m still on the fence about whether I like the color on me. I can definitely make it work with lip liner, but I’m not sure it’s the right fit for my skin tone.
Speaking of lip liners, I went in Sephora during their all about lips campaign. I tried on a pretty purple lipstick which was paired with the OCC Lip liner in Hoochie. Yes…Hoochie is the name. I thought that was pretty funny. I already have so many purple lip sticks, but no lip liners, so I did go ahead and purchase that since it would look beautiful with my Up the Amp or Heroine lipsticks.
Finally, I purchased a Nars Concealer. Most of the summer, I have not been wearing foundation, but I needed something to cover up a few spots that developed on my face. I bought the Radiant creamy concealer in Cafe. The color is a perfect match for my skin and covers up the dark spots really well. I have been carrying this in my purse this past month and just dabbing it on when I need it. I am enjoying it.
Talk to you all soon.
Love this blogging thing!
When I started this blog many years ago, I did not write a lot on it. I have always enjoyed writing (well at least on topics that is not for school). I was one of those people that always kept a diary and wrote in it frequently, almost daily. It’s always been a blog of my personal thoughts and feelings. In January, one of my goals was to write regularly and this is one of the goals I have managed to keep and LOVE. It has been a joy to do updates once or twice a week. One day, I hope to have much more to write about and have the ability to write about it well! Sometimes, I have ideas of something that I would like to talk about but I just feel that it will not come across well, so I pass that post up. I absolutely love blogging about fashion, beauty, and just every day life. So, thank you to all of the readers who have subscribed and gotten some enjoyment out of reading or viewing my posts. Whatever the reason is that have caused it to be somewhat entertaining to you, I hope that I am able to continue on that path.
Thank you, and I will talk to you all soon!
Calvin Klein Skirt (OOTD)
I bought a new skirt from Belk for 60% off this weekend. I originally planned on wearing this skirt as a dress because it’s so long, so I figured that people may not know the difference. I changed my mind this morning after I found a pretty yellow flower necklace at Charming Charlies. So, I decided to wear a yellow tank and a white, knit shrug jacket instead. I got the shrug from Belk at 75% off. I was out getting bargains last Friday. Anyway, here is today’s work attire.
Whatever happened to….
I recently posted on Facebook that I kinda miss my 24 year old self. It’s true. I miss that girl. She had so many dreams and was fearless about what was to come. At 24, I made the decision to leave home and drive 800+ miles to live in Georgia. I had such plans. I was going to become successful! Now, I did not have those dreams of singing, acting, etc. I just wanted to become this great business woman that would provide me with the ability to take care of my mother. That was my dream. I wanted to be an entrepreneur. Thinking back to it now, I realize why it did not happen. I did not have a plan. I had no clue what I wanted to do. All I knew when I got here is that I needed a job to be able to pay bills and keep food on my table. Not a bad goal. After all, my mother didn’t raise someone show shirks responsibility. I had to be level headed and needed to know how I was going to make it in this big city.
Unfortunately, due to that feeling of being responsible, I got caught up on the normality of a decent paying job and lost sight of my real goal that caused me to leave Wisconsin. So, now I am asking myself “what happened to that 24 year old girl?” I need to get a hold of her again and we need to talk so that we can get back on track with our dreams.
Skater Dress
I am loving this blue and white skater dress from Lane Bryant. This morning, I was running a little late and needed to throw on something quickly for work so here I am along with a few items that I am loving recently. The dress has pockets which definitely comes in handy when I am walking around the office.
Oh, I recently purchased a new Dior Fluid stick. I really like it. It does not feel extremely glossy, but it gives a decent shine. It is somewhat like a stain, but it does not last as long as a matte lipstick such as Ruby Woo, but it lasts a decent amount of time. I wore it all morning and it didn’t fade until lunch. I am loving my Anastasia brow wiz. I completely underestimated the power of filling in my brows. I don’t think I will ever go back to not doing that.

Instant Gratification

I finally caved and purchased a YSL lipstick. Honestly, I have been wanting one for over a year, but just could not justify the price in my head. Well, I finally did it and I could not be happier. I made sure to get a color that was very wearable. There were two colors that I was interested in which were, #5 Volupte Sheer Candy and #19 Fuchsia in Range.
As I mulled over my decision, it was quickly made for me! They were completely out of #19, so #5 it was. I have been wearing it since I walked out of the store with it. It is surprisingly long wearing. It is so moisturizing and sheer that I thought it wouldn’t last long on my lips but it does. A very pleasant surprise. The color is sheer, but it gives a perfect tint of the red color. Lipsticks last me forever, so I’m sure I will have this for a very long time.
I love my weekend purchase, and I have already gotten compliments on it which makes it even more worth it in my book. Talk to you all soon….
