Saturday Afternoon Tea

This past month, I have decided to get out and experience more things. I just felt like I have been getting in such a rut, and becoming so boring. Most weekends, I would just sit in the house or go shopping. Now, of course, there is nothing wrong with shopping! Let’s not go crazy, but I just wanted to get out of my comfort zone a little bit. Sometimes when people would ask me to go places, I would just say no because I can be a little anti-social. I do have a little bit of social anxiety, nothing to huge but sometimes being around new people make me uncomfortable. So, yesterday, I went out with friends to a tea room. It was interesting.

My friends and I went to Tea Leaves & Thyme in Woodstock, GA. It’s a tiny little place, but we went there for the experience, and they even have a dressing room where you can choose a gown and hat to take pictures of your “British” experience. I passed on the gown and hat since I dressed for the occasion anyway. This was another dress day for me. I can’t believe how many dresses I have purchased in the last few months, I purchased this cream and white belted Jacquard skater dress from boohoo.com. I was not sure of the sizes so I went up a size in this one and got a size 22 (good choice, in my opinion). At first, I thought the dress was too short, but my friend thought it was fine. The was to my knees all the way around. There is nothing, I hate more than seeing someone with the front of a dress hanging low, and the back hiked up to reveal the butt cheeks! That was my fear, but I was given the thumbs up that all private body parts were far from being exposed. I made special effort to gloss and shine the legs up since I was wearing a shorter dress. Oh I also used a sample of a Glamglow Thirsty Mud hydrating mask, but I will have to save post of my new found love of that product for later. Unfortunately I chose to wear practical flat beige and tangerine sandals instead of pulling out a pair of the MANY wedge sandals that I have in my closet. I knew that somehow, we would end up doing a lot of walking and we did. We left for lunch at 12:30pm and ended up making a day out of. I returned home at 9pm. However, back to lunch.

We ordered the afternoon tea which came with tea (of course), a savory dish, in which I chose a chicken salad croissant, and a tower of desserts, fruits, and mini hand sandwiches. I finally got to see what a cucumber sandwich was about. Hmmm, it wasn’t all it was cracked up to be. We had pimento cheese sandwiches, which I thought was alright and another mini sandwich that I have no idea what it was. Now, these sandwiches were miniature, except of course the chicken salad croissant. They were just giving you a taste of them. Then they had fresh watermelon and cantaloupe and scones. The scones were served with cream and jam. They were pretty good. For desserts, we had chocolate covered strawberries, mini muffins (well everything was mini), and a few other little bits. It was a nice little sampling of things, but I felt like I was starving a few hours later.

Now, for the tea. It was delicious. I had what I felt was probably a dessert tea, but it was so good. It was one of their teas of the day, I believe. It was a chocolate hazelnut tea. It was so yummy. I drank my entire pot and shared none. I had a really nice experience at Tea Leaves and Thyme. They have a a cute little gift shop as well where they sell their teas, tea cups, tea pots, etc. I ended up buying a little heart tea cup and saucer because I have some heart shaped Alessi spoons that goes perfect with it. I had to have one. If anyone is ever in Woodstock, GA… try them out. Anyway, a fun Saturday was had by me and my friends.

Super moon weekend

This past weekend was wonderful. Of course, I did a little shopping at The Outlet Shoppes at Atlanta. It was not my intent to purchase anything, but I had to exchange two items that I bought in the wrong size. After making my exchange, I did my normal route of stopping in a few stores to look in their clearance section and had a little lunch at Taqueria Tsunami. I had been wanting to try this place for a while and it was fantastic. I had the garden shrimp quesadilla which was so darn good that I debated getting another to go for dinner. Since it started to get busier with the lunch crowd, I passed on waiting for that. After leaving there, I passed the Converse store and went in there for a look. I have never owned a pair of Converse. I have always seen girls with them on and they look so cute sometimes. I had never seen a pair that I thought looked as cute on my feet until now. Yes, I purchased my first pair. See, I almost made it out of there without one single purchase. They are cute little grey/pink/yellow/white shoes. Of course, I nabbed them out of the junior section. My friend got a laugh out of that. She says whenever shopping for me, she just looks at what the teeny boppers are wearing. Ha!

After getting home, I was being super lazy after 8pm and laying in bed watching television. I decided that I did not want to miss the super moon. So as soon as it got dark, I threw something on along with my new pair of converse and went outside to see the moon. I walked out to my patio and could see nothing through the trees in the back of my house. Determined not to miss it and not to blow it off, I grabbed my car keys, hopped in the car to head toward the park near my house where certainly I would see it. Well, I didn’t have to go far. As soon as I turned south off my street, there it was. It was big, bright, beautiful. Honestly, it looked as though I could drive right up to it and touch it. Magnificent. I took pictures, but they hardly do it justice. I was just in awe at how big it actually looked. Funny enough, the further south I drove, the further it started to look. Eventually, I found myself not at the park, but in the parking lot of a Target just staring at it. Not surprisingly, there were other people doing the same thing.

Sunday was a day of cleaning, although I really should have been working on my final paper for school. I have four weeks to complete that so I had better hop on it. Anyway, that was my weekend. I hope you all enjoyed yours!

Skater Dress

I am loving this blue and white skater dress from Lane Bryant. This morning, I was running a little late and needed to throw on something quickly for work so here I am along with a few items that I am loving recently. The dress has pockets which definitely comes in handy when I am walking around the office.

Oh, I recently purchased a new Dior Fluid stick. I really like it. It does not feel extremely glossy, but it gives a decent shine. It is somewhat like a stain, but it does not last as long as a matte lipstick such as Ruby Woo, but it lasts a decent amount of time. I wore it all morning and it didn’t fade until lunch. I am loving my Anastasia brow wiz. I completely underestimated the power of filling in my brows. I don’t think I will ever go back to not doing that.

Black and White Hi-Lo Dress

I woke up feeling all pretty and girly this morning, so I decided to finally wear my last new dress that I purchased a while ago. It is a black and white hi-lo dress from Lane Bryant. It can be worn with the optional straps or strapless. I decided to add the straps since it was pretty early in the morning and I wasn’t doing much but running errands and of course heading out to the malls. Originally, I envisioned myself wearing this with a bright yellow shrug and yellow wedge sandals, but I could never find the shrug and just got tired of staring at the beauty in my closet.

So, I threw it on along with a few silver accessories and silver thong sandals to further casual it down, and off I went. I made sure to use my Bathina body balm by Benefit so that I could be a bronzed goddess. I felt beautiful. The weather was perfect for it. It was about 75 degrees, sunny, with a slight breeze.

So, here are the pictures of my lovely outfit this morning, along with a picture of some Kate Spade heels that I would have liked to wear with it if I could manage to walk in a heel that high that isn’t a wedge.

My make up was pretty much the same that I wore for yesterday’s barbecue. I think it is becoming my summer look. Let me know your thoughts. I am truly enjoying wearing dresses for the first time in my life.

Instant Gratification

Instant Gratification

I finally caved and purchased a YSL lipstick. Honestly, I have been wanting one for over a year, but just could not justify the price in my head. Well, I finally did it and I could not be happier. I made sure to get a color that was very wearable. There were two colors that I was interested in which were, #5 Volupte Sheer Candy and #19 Fuchsia in Range.

As I mulled over my decision, it was quickly made for me! They were completely out of #19, so #5 it was. I have been wearing it since I walked out of the store with it. It is surprisingly long wearing. It is so moisturizing and sheer that I thought it wouldn’t last long on my lips but it does. A very pleasant surprise. The color is sheer, but it gives a perfect tint of the red color. Lipsticks last me forever, so I’m sure I will have this for a very long time.

I love my weekend purchase, and I have already gotten compliments on it which makes it even more worth it in my book. Talk to you all soon….

Mally

Mally

The other week, I went into Ulta and saw that they had a new brand called Mally. Now, I had heard one of my favorite beauty vloggers, Crystalis007, talk about this brand and she loves it. She is always talking about the Poreless Face Defender because it helps to keep her from shining throughout the day, so I decided to try it.

Of course, being the instant gratification type person that I am, I took it out of the box as I was leaving the store so that I can put it on my face! I know, I’m a little ridiculous but I just couldn’t help myself. Now, I mentioned before that I like wearing the Rimmel Stay Matte Primer on it’s own because it keeps my shine away so I was wondering if this would be similar only in a compact with a sponge. So, I open the box and remove all of the contents which were the compact and the sponge. My first thought was how gigantic the sponge is. Personally, I think it’s to big, It’s not so easy to get the product on it because it’s so bulky but never the less, I dipped it in and got some on and immediately placed a little on my shiny nose. Well, it was o.k. but it seems like it made me look super dry. My nose was a little oily before I put it on, but when I put it on it seems like I had dry patches. I don’t know. It was just odd. Now this is just my initial reaction to the product and I have not tried it since so I will use it again over my foundation and see how I do with that. It sounds like an interesting product.

On a brighter note though, I got a free gift with my purchase. It is the Mally volumizing mascara. Now, this I instantly loved. Sometimes mascara can irritate my eyes, so a lot of it ends up sitting in a drawer. I have been wearing this one almost every day since I got it and it has been great. There was no irritation and it makes my lashes look great. Should have taken a picture of it. Maybe I will include it on the next photo of my new buys.

Charleston, SC

This past weekend, I went on a day trip to South Carolina.  I had a pretty good time.  I didn’t think it was as nice as Savannah or Hilton Head, but it was a nice day.  I went with my best friend, so we were all geared up for a lot of sun, fun, and shopping.  When we arrived, we were surprised at how congested the area was.  It was so busy!  We parked in the parking deck near the welcome center, went in and browsed through a couple of brochures for tours, then watched some of the videos on the history of the area.  I must say that their welcome center was very advanced.  I don’t believe I have ever seen one like that with such advanced technology being used.  It was interesting.

We decided not to go on any formal tours, but instead just hit the main street in search of lunch.  We ended up going to Hyman’s Seafood.  My friend looked up local restaurants and saw that one had a very good rating, so off we went to test it out.  It was pretty good.  I had fried whiting and fries (very basic, I know).  It was a pretty good portion and I couldn’t eat it all.

Oh, on our way to Hyman’s, we passed a park that was having a dog show.  Now, my friend is deathly afraid of any animals with fur, so I’m shocked she wasn’t running out screaming into oncoming traffic the moment she saw it.  We made it by though.  We saw an upscale consignment shop that we went inside.  They had everything from Jimmy Choo’s, Chanel, and other high priced brands.  The place was jammed packed with merchandise, so it was hard to maneuver through all of the racks of clothes.  I think that is what turns me off from a lot of consignment shops.  They are just so darn cluttered.  It’s not very inviting for me, but for people that really enjoy searching for a great deal, they would have enjoyed this place.  While we were there, we saw a woman walk in with a Kate Spade bag, so we knew there was more shopping somewhere near by!  Well after searching for shopping while we ate, we found out that the shopping district was one block over.  HERE WE GO!

Shop, Shop, Shop, Shop!  I surprising didn’t buy anything.  Not from the lack of trying, believe me. I had a limited amount of money to spend so I wanted to see everything first before making a decision. Unfortunately, nothing really screamed at me to buy it.  I did see a lot of interested t-shirts with a twist in Anthropologie.  I might just go to their website and make a few purchases.  I really wish they would have had a Zara.  If there was one there, I missed it.  We went into Kate Spade, Louis Vuitton, Gucci, and a ton of other places.  They were having a tax free day as well, so anything purchased would have been tax exempt.   Sad I didn’t find anything.  I did go into a store and saw a beautiful purse that I considered buying.  It was $489, so I decided against that.

After leaving the shopping district, we headed for Folly beach.  O.M.G.  It was cram packed.  We couldn’t even find a parking spot.  This is what I would imagine spring break to look like….even though it wasn’t spring break.  There were people and cars everywhere.  We never did find a parking spot, so we ended up circling around a couple times, then trying to make our  way out of there.  No beach or ocean for me. (Sad girl)

It was an alright trip, but I think next time I will stick with Panama City, Savannah (Tybee Island), or Hilton Head.

Bye for now….

Black Friday!

What an exciting night it was. This was the first year that I have ever gone to the mall on Black Friday. Normally, when I shop on the day after Thanksgiving, I go to outlying stores to peruse and see if I can find a good deal on stocking stuffers. This year, I decided to go all out. I left the house at 10pm on Thursday night to stand in the line at Belk with the hopes of winning a $1000 gift card! It was cold, not not unbearable. I am in Georgia, after all. Belk was giving away gift cards to the first 250 customers. When I pulled up, I saw the line wrapped around the building, and thought for sure I wouldn’t be getting one. But about 45 minutes after getting in line, I saw a Belk manager coming around counting. I would soon find out if I was one of the lucky customers. About 30 minutes later, she came back out with her bull horn and notified us all that they actually had 390 gift cards. Wooooo Hoooo. I was sure I was in! They started handing out the claim checks, and i was number 190, so I would have gotten one even if they only had 250 cards. 🙂 Once I handed in my lovely claim check, and had my gift card in hand, I headed straight for the jewelry section to claim a rose gold watch as a gift. I went to pay for my watch and unfortunately I was not the lucky winner of the $1000 reward. I did, however, get a $25 gift card for my time. I’ll take it!

After my time in Belk, I actually went out into the mall among to HUGE crowd of people. It really was amazing the amount of people in the mall at midnight. I avoided Victoria Secret and Bath & Body Works like the plague as those lines were outrageously long. I made one more purchase in Macy’s then called it a night. I was actually in the mall for about 3 hours. After leaving the mall, I went to Ulta, Target and Old Navy (which also had an outrageously long line). All in all, it was a fun night. I had a blast walking around with all of the excited Christmas shoppers and I can say that no violence or craziness occurred. Everyone seemed on their best behavior so I was proud of my GA mall goers. I will probably NEVER do it again, but it was worth the one time experience.
