Obsessed with black and white

This summer, I have been wearing mostly black and white.  I have been absolutely obsessed with it.  I’m thinking of doing a photo look book with all the black and white items that I have purchased.  I have another Maxi dress that I bought that it black and white stripes, but I have not worn it yet because I would love to wear a yellow shrug with it.  I’m having a hard time finding one because I want it to be a bright yellow!  No dull colors for me when I need that pop.

Gold is also slowly finding its way back into my accessory line up.  I have always enjoyed silver more, but when rose gold became so popular, I thought the pink tint made it so much better.  Silver is still my preference, but with my black and white wardrobe, I have been added a little gold here and there for a little something special!

I can’t wait to take pictures of it all.  Image

Have a positive attitude

Have a positive attitude

Whether you wake up feeling great or feeling down, it can affect the rest of your day. Do you know that your demeanor around others affect them? Sometimes the vibe that you receive from someone is based on the vibe that you are giving off. If you look and sound positive, you will receive positivity back and vice versa. So smile and shake off that negative energy. It will make your day a lot better.

Awkward Dating Stories

Awkward Dating Stories

Recently, I met an older gentlemen who actually thought I was much younger than I am. Well, we had been talking on the phone, texting, and even went on one date. This was probably over the course of two weeks. Well, I really don’t like clingy guys and I pretty much told him that when he asked me about myself. One day, he sent me a text after we had not spoken for one day and asked, “Did I miss him?”

Well…hmmm, I didn’t really know what to say. I mean, I didn’t really miss him. I barely noticed that I hadn’t spoken to him just because I had been keeping busy. So, I tried to avert the question and just said “Just been keeping myself busy.”

Well, he didn’t take the hint and asked again! So I said, well, not really because I’ve been a little busy. I had no idea what to say! I didn’t want to lie. I’m so horrible at dating. Anyway, after I said that he says “I was just joking.” :crickets: Oops, my bad! Shouldn’t have asked.

That was one of many of my awkward dating stories. Has anyone ever experienced this? What should I have done?

Talk to you all later!

Outfit of the day

Outfit of the day

I have never been one to wear a Maxi dress because I just never thought they were flattering on me. A. I’m a plus sized girl, and not necessarily a curvy one. I think they look super cute on curvy girls. B. I’m short, only 5’3, so they are usually to long. However, I tried on the cutest two dresses in Lane Bryant last week and I had to get them. Here is one of them (printed maxi tube dress w/a white linen shrug). It also made getting dressed for work easy peasy that morning!

Today’s Make Up look

Today's Make Up look

I’m not wearing much on my face this morning, but I’m really into filling in my brows. I had never really done this before, and since my eyebrows aren’t really thin, I did not think this was something that I needed to do. Ohhh, have I been wrong. I really love it. It has taken a little time to get used to it because at first, I would fill them in a little to much and they would be really dark. ha. However, I’m getting the hang of it and loving it more and more so here is what I am wearing this morning.

Brows – Anastasia Brow Wiz (Granite) and Milani’s clear brow shaping wax
Lashes – Malley Volumizing Mascara (Black)
Lips – Bite lipstick (Palamino)

Reduced the shine on my face a little using my Mally evercolor poreless face defender. No blush which is rare for me because I’m usually a little obsessed with that, but I was running late this morning.

Have a great day.

Happy Birthday, Mom.

Today would have been my mother’s 60th birthday.  It has been a bitter sweet day.  I thought of her the entire day and wondered what we would talk about if I could call her on the phone.  Actually, I think I know what I would have talked about.  I would have just rambled on about my job, school, her sisters, and just everything under the sun.  She would have given me advice that I probably didn’t want to listen to even though it was right.

My mom had her opinions about everything, but most of the time she let me make my own way.  There are bits of guidance that she gave me that still makes me laugh today…such as not messing up my credit or not dating “island men”.  My mom was funny.  She dedicated her life to giving me a good life.  I honestly believe that most of the things that mom did in her adult life was to give me a better one than she had.  I felt that my mom was proud of me when I moved from Wisconsin and got a decent job in Georgia. It’s true that the heart grows fonder when you are apart because coming home to my mom was so special after I moved away.  I loved being with her even though she always did those annoying things that mom’s do, such as make you get up and do things for them when you really don’t want to.  🙂

My mom passed away just 4 months shy of her 50th birthday of Pulmonary Fibrosis and other illnesses related to it.  I loved my mother.  In everything I do, I wonder if she would be happy about it.  I wonder if she would still be proud of the woman that I have become.  I wonder if she would realize how much I am like her and how much she impacted my life.  I wonder if she knew how much I love her.  I didn’t get to say it enough.   I hope you know how much you meant to me. I hope you know how much I miss you and wish that we could talk.  So this post is just for my mom.  Mommy, I love you. Happy Birthday.  I wish you were here with me.

During one of last year’s CVS beauty clearance, I snatched up a bunch of discontinued colors of Revlon lip butters. One of the colors that I bought was Creamsicle. When I put this on, I immediately thought “Oh my, what the heck is this?” On my lips, it does not look at all the way it is inside the packaging. It actually was almost like a metallic-y lip gloss which didn’t suit my skin tone at all. However, this is not a bad review of this product because it turns out that is is one of my favorites to use to create an ombre lip. I decided to play around with this shade by adding a lip liner and blending out the edge. It is BEAUTIFUL. It’s actually one of my favorite shades to wear and I just change up the lip liner color to change it up a bit.

Mally

Mally

The other week, I went into Ulta and saw that they had a new brand called Mally. Now, I had heard one of my favorite beauty vloggers, Crystalis007, talk about this brand and she loves it. She is always talking about the Poreless Face Defender because it helps to keep her from shining throughout the day, so I decided to try it.

Of course, being the instant gratification type person that I am, I took it out of the box as I was leaving the store so that I can put it on my face! I know, I’m a little ridiculous but I just couldn’t help myself. Now, I mentioned before that I like wearing the Rimmel Stay Matte Primer on it’s own because it keeps my shine away so I was wondering if this would be similar only in a compact with a sponge. So, I open the box and remove all of the contents which were the compact and the sponge. My first thought was how gigantic the sponge is. Personally, I think it’s to big, It’s not so easy to get the product on it because it’s so bulky but never the less, I dipped it in and got some on and immediately placed a little on my shiny nose. Well, it was o.k. but it seems like it made me look super dry. My nose was a little oily before I put it on, but when I put it on it seems like I had dry patches. I don’t know. It was just odd. Now this is just my initial reaction to the product and I have not tried it since so I will use it again over my foundation and see how I do with that. It sounds like an interesting product.

On a brighter note though, I got a free gift with my purchase. It is the Mally volumizing mascara. Now, this I instantly loved. Sometimes mascara can irritate my eyes, so a lot of it ends up sitting in a drawer. I have been wearing this one almost every day since I got it and it has been great. There was no irritation and it makes my lashes look great. Should have taken a picture of it. Maybe I will include it on the next photo of my new buys.

Talk to you all soon.

Charleston, SC

This past weekend, I went on a day trip to South Carolina.  I had a pretty good time.  I didn’t think it was as nice as Savannah or Hilton Head, but it was a nice day.  I went with my best friend, so we were all geared up for a lot of sun, fun, and shopping.  When we arrived, we were surprised at how congested the area was.  It was so busy!  We parked in the parking deck near the welcome center, went in and browsed through a couple of brochures for tours, then watched some of the videos on the history of the area.  I must say that their welcome center was very advanced.  I don’t believe I have ever seen one like that with such advanced technology being used.  It was interesting.

We decided not to go on any formal tours, but instead just hit the main street in search of lunch.  We ended up going to Hyman’s Seafood.  My friend looked up local restaurants and saw that one had a very good rating, so off we went to test it out.  It was pretty good.  I had fried whiting and fries (very basic, I know).  It was a pretty good portion and I couldn’t eat it all.

Oh, on our way to Hyman’s, we passed a park that was having a dog show.  Now, my friend is deathly afraid of any animals with fur, so I’m shocked she wasn’t running out screaming into oncoming traffic the moment she saw it.  We made it by though.  We saw an upscale consignment shop that we went inside.  They had everything from Jimmy Choo’s, Chanel, and other high priced brands.  The place was jammed packed with merchandise, so it was hard to maneuver through all of the racks of clothes.  I think that is what turns me off from a lot of consignment shops.  They are just so darn cluttered.  It’s not very inviting for me, but for people that really enjoy searching for a great deal, they would have enjoyed this place.  While we were there, we saw a woman walk in with a Kate Spade bag, so we knew there was more shopping somewhere near by!  Well after searching for shopping while we ate, we found out that the shopping district was one block over.  HERE WE GO!

Shop, Shop, Shop, Shop!  I surprising didn’t buy anything.  Not from the lack of trying, believe me. I had a limited amount of money to spend so I wanted to see everything first before making a decision. Unfortunately, nothing really screamed at me to buy it.  I did see a lot of interested t-shirts with a twist in Anthropologie.  I might just go to their website and make a few purchases.  I really wish they would have had a Zara.  If there was one there, I missed it.  We went into Kate Spade, Louis Vuitton, Gucci, and a ton of other places.  They were having a tax free day as well, so anything purchased would have been tax exempt.   Sad I didn’t find anything.  I did go into a store and saw a beautiful purse that I considered buying.  It was $489, so I decided against that.

After leaving the shopping district, we headed for Folly beach.  O.M.G.  It was cram packed.  We couldn’t even find a parking spot.  This is what I would imagine spring break to look like….even though it wasn’t spring break.  There were people and cars everywhere.  We never did find a parking spot, so we ended up circling around a couple times, then trying to make our  way out of there.  No beach or ocean for me. (Sad girl)

It was an alright trip, but I think next time I will stick with Panama City, Savannah (Tybee Island), or Hilton Head.

Bye for now….
